Meet Ms. Taylor
I am a NE Ohio native; born and raised in Maple Hts. Ohio. I started to learn how to read music and play piano at age 5 from my mother. However, I didn't really enjoy piano all that much and would tend not to practice (shocking, I know) and quit.
When I was in 5th grade, I was introduced to band. I really wanted to play saxophone, but thinking my family couldn't afford one, I told my parents I wanted to play clarinet. Although I didn't start off on the instrument I really wanted, I was excited about band and pretty soon I was practicing every day! (I really did; ask my mother).
During my junior year my band director asked me if I would be willing to start giving private lessons. Me? a teacher?!? I was only 17!!! And so my teaching career began.
I majored in Clarinet Performance at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music. That clarinet I didn't originally want to play has certainly worked out well bringing many opportunities. I received scholarships to college and grad school and have performed for many musical theater productions at Cain Park, Near West Theatre, Porthouse Theatre, Kent State, the Beck Center and at various high schools in the area. This past year, my clarinet skills provided me an opportunity to tour Germany with a polka band! Music has certainly made life very interesting!
This is my 5th year teaching in Strongsville. I taught Band, Orchestra, and General Music at Albion Middle School and now General Music and Skills for Success at Strongsville Middle School.
